God of War III and My New Samsung LN40B750 1080p 240Hz LCD TV Settings

I just had to write this post as honestly, I’ve been struggling with my new 240Hz 40″ LCD TV from Samsung (the LN40B750) that I bought. I loved the whole look of the 240Hz Auto Motion Plus that I saw in the store, but was kinda frustrated with the way that same technology worked on sources other than blue ray discs (like PS3 Games, Satellite and Cable TV).

Now some people aren’t fans of the Auto Motion Plus Technology but I am. I think the people who aren’t fans have it set up wrong and that is why it looks like crap to them.

I have been fooling around with this for the past 4-5 days, testing it this way and then that way and then what if I did this, what if I did that, etc. etc. etc….You get the picture.

Well, I think I’ve finally got it cracked and I wanted to post my settings as they are quite different than what most people are posting online for this type of TV or any of the 120Hz or 240Hz Auto Motion Plus TVs from Samsung. Again, all of the sites I see say to just set it up based on what looks the best to you and let’s be real, that doesn’t help one freaking bit! There are so many bells and whistles on this TV – and to cap it off, there is SOOOO little explanation of what the hell does what in the manual or online!!!!

So… drum roll please… here are my PS3 settings and I hope this helps end your misery like it did mine…

First thing, switch your TV to Dynamic Mode and apply these settings (most of them are the default for the Standard mode – Greyed out ones that you can’t change I didn’t include):

Back-light: 8

Contrast: 100

Brightness: 45

Sharpness: 55

Color: 55

Tint: G50/R50

Color Tone: Normal

Size: 16:9

Digital NR: Off

HDMI Black Level: Normal (helps add depth to the blacks so you can see detail, not just all black)

Auto Motion Plus: Custom

Blur Reduction: 0

Judder Reduction: 5

God of War III should now look absolutely insane!!! If that doesn’t make you feel like you’ve been transferred to another world, I don’t know what will!

It’s just enough of the Auto Motion Plus effect to make it look super 3D awesome at spots, but not cause ANY pixelation in the game!!

I also am now using these setting for Blu Ray discs, Dish Network and Cable TV. For Dish Network it allowed me to select Film Mode and I set it to Auto1 as it helps detect films and makes them look awesome. I haven’t tried it yet with my Wii but I’m sure it will look awesome.

Now I am officially absolutely in love with this TV!!!!

I hope this helps and if it does, please post a comment.

Justin
